Frank Lloyd Wright is frequently seen as a major player in the Arts & Crafts Movement in America. Wright His work preserved the natural qualities of materials; it used simple geometric forms without excessive ornament; and was designed in harmony with the world of nature. During this period, Wright is seen using Lots of natural wood and naturally colored upholstery with pops of blue and red. His furniture was very linear and used many small vertical rods in different ways depending on the piece. This technique unified his work very well.

I personally used furniture inspired by Wright’s own pieces and my upholstery was very neutral in colors but also complimented my Craftsman rug. I used a lot of vertical lines throughout the house in large pieces like the stairs and in smaller details like the fireplace. I also wanted to use a lot of natural wood and stone to give the space a very earthy feeling. My main inspiration was Wright himself but also trying to tie everything back to nature itself which was the true heart of the arts and crafts movement.
